The ICOS mission

The ICOS mission is to enable research for understanding the greenhouse gas (GHG) budgets and pertubations.

ICOS thus aims to fulfill the following scientific needs: 

• Long data time series
• Uniform and standardized data collection methods
• Harmonized data processing
• Accessible data repository, with data that is free to use and has a consistent metadata
• Linked measurements of ocean, atmosphere and land-based GHG balances

ICOS Sweden specifically aims to provide data and access to advanced research stations within representative northern ecosystems. The goals is to provide multiple benefits for society including research, education and policy decision making.
